Meet Our Team

Rev. Sandy Johnson retired as a senior pastor from Red Mountain United Methodist Church in Mesa, Arizona, beginning her appointment with White Salmon United Methodist Church in July 2026. As she enters retirement, her hope is to continue serving God through a rural, part‑time ministry—offering her gifts, experience, and pastoral heart to our community.

With family ties to White Salmon and deep roots in the Pacific Northwest. Rev. Sandy was born and raised in Oregon, a graduate from Oregon State University in 1983 with a B.S. in Sociology. Her first career was in social services, working in residential treatment centers in the Portland area. She served as a behavioral therapist for two programs supporting children with mental health conditions.

Rev. Sandy Johnson later attended the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, earning her Master of Divinity in 2013. She began her ministry service in 2012, completed seminary in 2013, and was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church in 2015.

Rev. Johnson shares, “I take very seriously the privilege I have as clergy to stand in the gap for those with little or no voice. As Methodists, we are taught to be a voice for the voiceless, to stand up for the oppressed, and to be Christ‑like in all we do.”
